Bye

Just leaving a note to say goodbye. I know noone ever read this blog but me (and Mrs Woodrun over my shoulder).

I am leaving WoW altogether. It was a fun run but life carries on.

Thanks to BRK, Rilgon, Tarr, TarrJr, Oddman, Megs, and all the others I have met.
You all made this one hell of a ride.

Thanks...

PvP

I dont like PvP normally. I dont liek PvP abnormally. I dont like PvP at all (really)

Having said that I decided to start a character on a PvP realm just to see what its like.

Now my main is a Horde Hunter, so I figured lets follow the extreme opposite rule.

So I created a Ally Pally. Now I have ranted before about Pallys and how hard they are to kill etc etc.

Well I have found that they are fun to play (omg did i just say that???)

The server I picked (at random I might add) has a 2.56 Horde to 1 Alliance ratio...o goody!
This is after I have a bank alt setup, and Pally at lvl 17 and a Hunter (surprise) as well.

Once I get into area where there are likely to be Hordies we will see what its like.

If there is alot of corpse camping and ganking I may say screw it, but the experiment is ongoing.

What?! an instance?!

I got invited to another instance last night ( wth is going on?! )
Heroic CoS - which was fun (see crazy) and I bad pulled on the timed run (damnit)

Maybe next time we can try for the Bronze Drake. Im still holding out hope for the Green Proto-Drake from the Oracles egg. So far the egg has given me 4 minipets (all the same) some Aged Yolk (yippee!) and some other PoS that I didnt want.

Ah well, as you may know from my Loq posts my luck in this game is far from good.
I dont get many drops. And loq remains elusive.

P.S. As a Loq note I saw a Hunter (who shall remain anon) in Org with Loq whom he had named "Spirit Beast" OMG that broke my heart. Lvl the beast all the way to 80 and dont give him a name?!?!

Im choked...

On and On

In a bizzare twist of fate I was /w by a friend last night to help with the last 2 bosses in the Occulus.
Now I dont do instances...like ever. This was my third foray into an instance in Northrend and it was also Heroic! Bizzare for me to say the least. We downed the 2nd last boss on second try, and the last boss Eregos (sp?) was well fun! Riding the drakes to burn him down was a nice and different way to tackle a boss.

We wiped o i dont know about 8 times (luckily my friend said take all your gear off to save on repairs and boy did that work!)

We got him to 21% twice then we nailed him. Time stop was fun ( Iwas on an Amber drake).
I also got my first 2 emblems of Heroism (well the secret is out now)
but since I only participated in 2 boss takedowns no achievement :(

However if those 2 bosses were the hardest Ill have to go back and run the whole thing as I found it fun and not really terribly difficult ( a great Drood healer ftw )

Back to fishing for now...

Fishin' up a storm

The fishing trip continues!

Hit 350 last night, hop to Dal to get the Grand Master training.
Nagrand and Zangar are my next targets, particularily the Elemental Plateau, which I fished last night (with a lure ofc) and did very well in the Pools of Pure Water.

Signing off from Nagrand.

Absenteeism

I spent a week solid in Sholozar, no spirit beast :(

So I have decided to level my fishing skill instead.
I am at 290 now after 2 days and I even made it to the Straglethorn Fishing Extravanganza!

After that I will be doing the cooking levelling as well.

See you in Straglethorn!

More DK stuff and Loq...

Well, my DK is almost 68 (3 bars). I am wondering if I should ding 70 before hitting Northrend or should I just land there right at 68 (Borean Tundra is my fav starting spot.)

If I stick to 70 I can get some 70 gear from Mag'har Quartermaster, the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29137 is a nice Axe and not hard to get Exalted with this faction, plus they have the Riding Talbuks which I like as a mount.

I will tackle it tonight and see how far I get, if I can ding 70 quickly (which I figure will be 3 days give-or-take a day) then I should be darn close to Exalted by then.

I will be grinding Dailys with Woodrun trying to get enough Gold together to offer a substantial reward for finding Loq in SB. I figure a 1500Gold reward should be enough to get a bead on him if he has spawned.

As a BM Hunter I can tell you that this pet I want! I had Echeyakee, kept him till 70 and I had the Ghost Saber as well. I am a Cat person in RL so this Spirit Beast (I know not a cat but really a cat model!) is the ultimate to me.

On my server (Aman'Thul) I have seen a total of 4 Spirit Beasts. 2 in Dalaran (1 ally 1 hordie), and 2 in Org, which were posed side-by-side and looked absolutely awesome!

Till next time...

Death Knights

I didnt start a DK until I reached 80 with my Hunter.

I cant believe how OP they seem. Elite mobs that I used to have trouble with (i.e. The Naga Leaders in Zangarmarsh) were no sweat! Now I know that OL mobs had their health reduced to make it easier to level to 70, but I find that Elites are, well, easy!

So far so good - I hit 67 last night should be 68 by end of the weekend. Then its off to Northrend!

I cant wait, Northrend has some good rewards that can be had quite easily.

My Hunter probably replaced most of his gear by 75, all with Northrend greens/blues.

Cant wait....

Alts

As a solo (alot) player, I have a few alts.
I have also deleted quite a few. I have basically tried every class to at least 20 (except Rogues - I cant seem to get into Rogues).

I have a 66 DK (in progress), a mage (11), a lock (20), a second Hunter (surprise!) 32
and a couple of bank alts.

Now on another server I have a Pally (I know how much I have spewed against Pallys but well have to try right?) and a Druid, both in the mid-teens.

Whats your fav alt? Me - Im enjoying the DK right now, mostly because its the exact opposite of a Hunter. Hes Melee, likes to get up close and personal. I very rarely use the Ghoul, usually only when I aggro a few more then I should have or if there is an Elite up.

For my main, its just dailys and looking for Loq right now. Once I get Loq I will go back and continue other quest lines and things that I havent finished.

Current pets

My pet collection is as follows;

1. Runeblazer, Wolf, 80
2. Frostus, Cat, 80 - Mrs Woodrun named this one!
3. Sharkbait, Worm, 80
4. Pepper, Gorilla, 80
5. Triangus (Spirit of Atha from an Oracle daily, which is no longer tameable (i believe), Crocolisk (tho he is a Hydra), 80 - Mrs Woodrun named this one too!

Now if Loq comes up, as I am sure he will, then I will drop any of the ones above I have with me (excepting the Hydra, which will stay in my stable till I find Loq)

Excuse the brackets...

Return to BM

I respecced to BM again last night, after trying to find a time-card from EB Games.
First place I went to said "Sorry, sold out." Second location, same response.
Back to work. Called the third location in my area, and, woohoo! They had 3 left, please hold one for me ok? My name is Dave, Ill be in later to pick it up.

Arrived at said location, thankfully they saved it for me, cause, you guessed it, they were sold out of the others they had.

So after going a day and half without WoW (which Mrs Woodrun didnt mind so much) I returned and respecced to a 51-point BM build again.

Since I dont raid and I like to solo, BM it is! According to Ghostcrawler on the WoW forums they realized that the hammer fell pretty hard on BM and they will be reviewing it to see about adjustments.

My solution? Give us our pet damage back. Keep the other 'nerfs' in place but re-up the damage to what it was for pets. This will again, imho, make BM a decent spec again.

Having said that, maybe there will be less Hunters looking for Loq in Sholozar Basin and make it easier for me to get the one pet I have wanted the most in the game.

For those who dont know, Loq spawns every 6 (roughly) hours but he shares his spawn with 2 other rare creatures, King Krush (dino) and a bird (which I am not a fan of birds in general as pets as tehy wingspan makes me a little crazy when Im trying to loot a corpse)

So...he doesnt spawn very often. Thats obvious, so my new plan to camp and grind with some whatever pet that I can drop at anytime (worm? probably) I will grind leather till the Taurens come home to get this damn beast!

Marksmanship

Well I changed to MM last night. Unreal the crits I hit 4 over 4200+ in less than 15 minutes.

Rilgon is the man! I will be MM for a while I think, going to test it on lvl 80 dailies tonight and report back.

Patch Bitch Slap

Pre-patch test on target dummies - no trinkets just rotation and BW - 2550 average.
Post-patch test on target dummies - no trinkets just rotation and BW - 1950 average.

This test was conducted in Silvermoon City, no one around must be like the Exodar - same build same gear - cat pet.

A loss of 600 DPS on average, wow the hammer fell hard eh??

Rilgon must be giggling himself to sleep...

Away

Sorry have been away (not that anyone reads this other than me anyway but...)

Have been working on alts while the patch is getting ready to drop.

I will have to try out Rilgons 7/57/7 MM spec to see if that works for me.

I have a gorilla (Pepper) grinding and a Wolf (runeblazer) for raiding and a cat (Frostus - thanks to Mrs Woodrun for that name!) and a Worm which may get dropped for the MM spec.

Props to Rilgon for providing lots of great info about MM and how mis-understood it is.
